Sepiatone City
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
I've never built a city simulator before, so I figured I would give it a shot! Unfortunately, I came down with a flu for the first week of the jam, so it's unlikely that it will be finished before the deadline... oh well. The (excellent) soundtrack's credit goes to Bamboozled (https://bamboozled.bandcamp.com/), while the programming and modeling is mine, Michael Macha's.
In any case it's still been an excellent learning experience. (I usually do first or third-person simulators.) It seems the code for Wright's original Sim City (a.k.a. "Micropolis") has been made open source, so I got to tour his old techniques. That knocked down a lot of my assumptions about it.
As for the models, they're mine but you can treat them as CC0 and use them/alter them as you see fit.
(Final update before the deadline. Sound effects on building were from a free sound pack, I'm told; Bamboozled spent some time digging for them. I was hoping to also have this ready to play on the web, too, but the WASM killed off my sepia tone effect! Apparently that will be available in a later version, which I suppose is fine; but it kind of kills the attitude of the piece, I think!)
